Illuminate is a concept album (e.g. Songs In the Key of Life by Stevie Wonder, Sign of the Times by Prince) done in 4 parts, spanning the band’s lives, loves, and hopes. It’s about false starts, comebacks and 2nd chances. It’s about perseverance -- having the strength to endure.
“The band went through changes while we were working on the album. We started with one set of members. That original set broke up and we began another one -- but then that set broke up, and we picked up another set. Life imitates art (and art) imitates life. We began to live what we were writing, and in the process of living it, that shaped what we were writing again.”

Illuminate: GREEN starts off with Promise featuring the group vocals of Kael Mboya, Michael Lockett and Donica Lynn. Its groove sets the mood and offers hope for what’s to come.

The 2nd track, More, takes the mood and the beat to another level with staccato horns and pulsating rhythms. It challenges us to answer: what more can we do?

I Ain’t Got No Time - Life is fragile and precious. This track, featuring Tina M. Howell, gives us a rocking anthem full of blazing guitar riffs to remind us that life’s most valuable element is time.

Gotta Get Up is another anthem about rising up to face life’s challenges. It inspires with a healthy chunk of funky rhythm guitar and a catchy groove.

Track 5 slows it down and gives us the beautiful ballad, Finally, which takes us back to the quiet storm songs of the 1980s. When you’ve longed for real love and it “finally” comes, there is… release. It features the vocal stylings of Michael Lockett and Swaylo.

When the musical journey lands at track 6, Brand New Me, there is rebirth… This inspiring melody transcends and continues to rise until it transforms itself-- and you -- with an infectious afrobeat… let’s get brand new.

ASCENDANT is a state of mind; a state of being; an uplifting movement to rise above. It is a platform to express these ideas and ideals through music. The goal is to be a light for those who may question their purpose; to reassure them that they have the power… they have the answers in themselves if they only believe...
